The Role:

We are currently searching far and wide for talented and driven engineers to join and grow our development team. Because we are a start-up, every team member’s ideas will be explored. You must be a self-starter and you must REALLY love to code. We focus on design and user experience and make sure our developers work closely with our designers, which enables us to build gorgeous software with some really unique user experiences.

You should have significant experience in JavaScript and building browser extensions. We thrive to build the best web applications. You will be responsible for working with our designers and product managers to build out a user experience for our web application. You will work closely with our CBIR and back-end engineers to integrate our API’s.

Week 9: INvestor Presentation & Elevator Pitches at the CN Tower

The startups in INtake 03 were focused on their INvestor presentations last week. The office was busy with mentors coming in to offer INvestor Presentation Advisement and very valuable feedback.

On Friday, Toronto-based startup hovr.it announced the soft-launch of their comparative shopping tool, hovr.it. Hovr.it is a Google Chrome extension that allows users to click on a image of a piece of clothing to find an online retailer it’s sold at. If the service can’t find an exact match, it will suggest several comparables. The extension currently only supports searches done through Pinterest and displays product results for women. However, the company plans to add addtional image-services and support for men’s products in the future. The start-up also plans to add a local component to service further down the road, allowing users to find out if an item they like online is available in the city that they live in.

INcubes DemoDay INtake02 at the Toronto Stock Exchange was an exciting event, where INcubes presented it’s second INtake of accelerated Startups. The new companies, Hovr, GameDay, EventHoller, and MyGoodNIght presented to a private INvite only room of Canada’s most influential tech investors, as well as to the public through a live broadcast hosted by ITbusiness.ca.

Key note speaker, Kirk Simpson, founder of Wave Accounting, shared INsight from his experience as a successful entrepreneur. 

The startups are already seeing the returns. Two of the companies are in investor negotiations towards their first round of capital for growth, and EventHoller is already close to closing it’s round!
